Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals a complex palette combining notes of fresh red fruits such as redcurrant, red cherry and pomegranate. Floral nuances mingle with vegetal hints of green malt, while strawberry aromas intertwine with briny notes evocative of shellfish and aromatic herbs. A subtle touch of sauerkraut and terracotta adds an extra dimension to the whole.

A Chilean Pinot Noir from the cool climate of the Malleco-Traiguén region
The estate
Founded in 2013 by Francisco Baettig, a leading figure in South American oenology, the Baettig Southern Regions estate covers 22 hectares, 15 of which are planted in Malleco-Traiguén in southern Chile. After two decades at Viña Errázuriz, where he crafted the iconic Seña and Viñedo Chadwick cuvées, Francisco Baettig now farms the family vineyard inherited from his great-grandparents. The estate grows Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and old, century-old País vines, using dry farming with no irrigation, hand harvesting and indigenous yeasts, across three ranges: Los Parientes, Los Primos and Los Compadres.
The vineyard
This Chilean wine comes from the Los Suizos vineyard, located in the Traiguén region, and benefits from an outstanding terroir composed of pyroclastic andesitic volcanic breccias. The ancient volcanic soils have a clay-loam texture characterized by red clays. The Mediterranean climate, with temperate summers and rainy winters, provides annual rainfall that allows for dry farming without irrigation. This privileged setting gives the grapes a unique expression of the terroir.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage is characterized by a moderately warm, early season, with heat accumulation above the historical average. The rainy winter brought 646 millimeters of precipitation, followed by a very dry spring and summer. These dry, warm conditions led to harvest beginning seven to ten days earlier than average, enabling grapes to be picked at optimal ripeness between March 20 and 31.
Winemaking and aging
The Vino Viñedo "Los Parientes" Pinot Noir 2023 is made with indigenous yeasts, incorporating fifteen percent whole clusters during fermentation. Aging of this Southern Regions wine takes place over eight months in 300-liter French oak barrels, 8% of which are new.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
