A fresh, mineral Bourgogne Aligoté by Bouchard Père & Fils
The estate
Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils is among the oldest houses in Burgundy. The estate spans around 130 hectares in the Côte d'Or, 75% of which are classified as Premier or Grand Cru. Owned by Artémis Domaines since 2022, it was restructured in 2025 into two autonomous entities. Led by Jean-Marc Pistre under the supervision of Frédéric Engerer, the estate stands out for its headquarters at the 15th-century Château de Beaune and its organic certification obtained in 2025.
The vineyard
This Bourgogne Aligoté comes from selected parcels across the Burgundy region, planted on limestone soils and clay marls. These terroirs give the wine its signature minerality and bright freshness, allowing the Aligoté grape variety to fully express its aromatic potential.
The vintage
The 2021 vintage proved a major challenge for Burgundy winegrowers. After a cool winter, high temperatures in early April triggered early budbreak, followed by severe frosts causing variable crop losses. A cool, rainy spring slowed vine growth, before fine weather returned in early June, enabling successful flowering. Despite a difficult summer with rainfall and cool conditions, the harvest—beginning around September 20—made it possible to pick high-quality grapes thanks to rigorous selection.
Vinification and aging
Vinification of the Bourgogne Aligoté 2021 takes place in temperature-controlled tanks at 20°C to preserve freshness and varietal aromas. Aging then continues for eight months in temperature-controlled tanks, allowing the wine to develop complexity while retaining its pure, mineral profile, without any oak influence.
Grape variety
100% Aligoté.
