Description
Tasting characteristics and advice for the 2022 Chiesa Nera red from Clos Venturi
Tasting
Nose
Rich and expressive, the nose reveals notes of rose and violet.
Palate
On the palate, spicy, herbal and peppery aromas are supported by a delicate, velvety texture. The finish is long-lasting and remarkably fresh.
A vibrant, well-balanced red wine
The estate
Based in the high-altitude village of Ponte Leccia, Clos Venturi is one of Corsica’s newest estates, founded in the early 2000s from the division of the finest terroirs of the Vico estate, another property belonging to Jean-Marc and Manu Venturi.
The vineyard
This Corsica estate oversees a vineyard of around twenty hectares.
The wine
This Chiesa Nera red is a Vin de France made from vines planted on sandstone soils with a south/southeast exposure. Meaning “black church,” this wine pays tribute to the intergenerational transmission within the estate.
Vinification and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are partially destemmed before fermentation in foudres with indigenous yeasts. Maceration lasts around 30 days. The wine is aged for 10 months in foudres, 10 months in amphorae, then 4 to 6 months in bottle.
Grape varieties
Aleatica, niellucciu, sciaccarellu, minustellu, morescola, carcaghjolu neru, moresconu et vermentinu.
