Description
Tasting notes and advice for the Riesling “L’Epicentre” 2022 from Domaine Albert Mann
Tasting
Color
The color reveals a brilliant, intensely luminous golden-yellow hue.
Nose
Complex, the nose opens with notes of candied citrus, lemon zest and mandarin. The bouquet then evolves toward aromas of exotic fruits, fine teas and orange peel.
Palate
The attack on the palate is clean and precise. Like a cut rough diamond, this wine unfolds remarkable structure and impressive concentration, carried by a distinctly mineral acidity. The finish lingers at length, offering a tasting experience without heaviness, in the tradition of great sweet wines.
Food pairing
This Alsatian wine pairs perfectly with a lemon tart or a fresh fruit tartare with mint. It is also excellent as a wine for contemplation.
Serving and cellaring
The Riesling “L’Epicentre” 2022 from Domaine Albert Mann is best enjoyed at a temperature of 10°C. Crafted for long aging, it can be savored slowly over several decades.
An exceptional Alsatian sweet wine from the Albert Mann estate
The estate
The Domaine Albert Mann, located in Wettolsheim in Haut-Rhin, was born from the union of the Mann family, winegrowers since the early 17th century, and the Barthelmé family, established there since 1654. Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé now run the estate together with their children Antoine and Pauline, the tenth generation of winegrowers. The estate farms 25 hectares spread across around one hundred parcels, including several Alsatian Grands Crus. A pioneer of biodynamics since 1997 and organically certified, the estate stands out for its respect for terroirs and its exceptional geological diversity.
The vineyard
The Riesling “L’Epicentre” 2022 comes from a clay-limestone and granite parcel and benefits from a south and southeast exposure. The vines, around 30 years old, are farmed organically and biodynamically and are Ecocert certified under FR-BIO-01.
Vinification and aging
The harvest is carried out by hand, with a special selection of grapes from very old vines. This wine is produced using vertical pressing over 24 hours. Fermentation takes place spontaneously thanks to natural yeasts. The wine then ages for several months on fine lees.
Grape variety
This white wine from Alsace is 100% Riesling.
