The estate
Established in 1880 in Beaune by Joseph Drouhin, this family-owned House remains an essential reference in Burgundy. Now run by the founder’s great-grandchildren—Véronique, Frédéric, and Philippe Drouhin—it farms nearly 80 hectares of vineyards from Chablis to the Mâconnais, most of them in Premier and Grand Cru sites. A member of Primum Familiae Vini, the House of Joseph Drouhin is a pioneer in terroir-respecting viticulture, with a gradual shift toward organic and biodynamic practices since the 1980s, favoring minimal intervention in the cellar.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from vineyards in Rully stretching across the communes of Rully and Chagny, at the gateway to the Côte d'Or, south of Santenay. The vines grow on limestone strata from the Secondary era, a geological extension of Mercurey. This ancient village is said to have been cleared by a Roman named Rubilius, attesting to a thousand-year-old winegrowing history.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for the Rully Blanc 2022 are harvested by hand into open crates, with meticulous sorting when necessary. Slow whole-cluster pressing is carried out pneumatically. After settling, the juices are transferred directly into barrels. Aging for this Burgundy wine lasts 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels from high-forest sources, with 10 to 15% new oak.
Grape variety
Chardonnay (100%).
