A full-bodied California red wine with beautiful vivacity
The estate
Founded in 2006 by the Franco-American couple Luc and Jodie Morlet, Morlet Family Vineyards showcases the prestigious terroirs of Sonoma County and Napa Valley. Heir to a Champagne winemaking lineage spanning five generations, Luc Morlet, who holds a degree in oenology from Reims, honed his expertise at Château Dauzac in Margaux before settling in California with Jodie. Together, they first created vineyards dedicated to cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc before expanding their range to other varietals such as pinot noir and chardonnay. Acclaimed by the most renowned critics, the estate's wines enjoy unanimous recognition.
The vineyard
This Californian vineyard rests on clay, stony and silty soils typical of the Red Hills, and benefits from the proximity of Mount St. Helena. The warm and windy climate is ideal for the long maturation of Bordeaux red varietals: cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, malbec and petit verdot.
The wine
Crafted in an artisanal manner using traditional winemaking techniques, this Knights Valley wine is dedicated to Paul, the son of Luc and Jodie Morlet.
Vinification and aging
Manual night harvesting ensures the freshness of the berries, transported in crates in refrigerated trucks. Meticulous sorting, performed manually cluster by cluster and berry by berry, ensures optimal selection. Natural fermentation, initiated by indigenous yeasts, is accompanied by punch-downs in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, with the support of Gyrobox™ technology. After 16 months of aging in carefully selected French oak barrels, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration, to preserve all its authenticity.
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (86%)
Cabernet franc (8%)
Merlot (3%)
Malbec (2%)
