The aromatic expression and structure of a Californian red wine
The estate
Founded in 2006 by French-American couple Luc and Jodie Morlet, Morlet Family Vineyards showcases the prestigious terroirs of Sonoma County and Napa Valley. Heir to a Champagne winegrowing lineage spanning five generations, Luc Morlet, who graduated in oenology in Reims, honed his expertise at Château Dauzac in Margaux before settling in California alongside Jodie. Together, they first created vineyards dedicated to cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc before expanding their range to other grape varieties such as pinot noir and chardonnay. Acclaimed by the most renowned critics, the estate's wines enjoy universal recognition.
The wine
"Passionnément Cabernet Sauvignon 2012" is a Napa Valley wine resulting from a rigorous barrel selection from the estate's vineyards: "Coeur de Vallée", "Morlet Estate" and "Mon Chevalier".
Winemaking and aging
The grapes, hand-harvested at night, are carefully transported in small refrigerated boxes to preserve their freshness. Each cluster and each berry then undergoes meticulous hand sorting. Fermentation, carried out with indigenous yeasts, takes place in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, with regular punch-downs. After this stage, the wine is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled without fining or filtration, in order to preserve all its authenticity.
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (100%).
