A Vintage Port from the Douro with exceptional power and complexity
Taylor's – three centuries of excellence in the Douro
Founded in 1692, Taylor's is one of the most prestigious Port houses dedicated exclusively to this fortified wine. Based in the Douro region of Portugal, it owns outstanding estates such as Vargellas and Terra Feita. Owned by Taylor, Fladgate & Yeatman since its inception, the house is managed by Adrian Bridge. Taylor's is distinguished by traditional vinification in lagares, its blends of indigenous grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, and its ability to produce exceptional vintages. The brand embodies the excellence of Port in the Duriense region and preserves a world-renowned, age-old know-how.
The 1994 Vintage Port – a legendary vintage
Taylor's 1994 Vintage Port is produced from a blend of grapes from the Vargellas and Terra Feita Quintas, two outstanding estates each with its own microclimate. The 1994 viticultural year was marked by an exceptionally wet winter, leading to yield reductions of up to 75% in some locations. The subsequent dry and warm growing season, though without extreme summer temperatures, allowed for an evenly ripe harvest with musts rich in sugar, anthocyanins and aromas. This vintage received outstanding ratings from international critics, including 100 points from James Suckling in Wine Spectator and 100 points in World of Fine Wine, confirming its status as a legendary Vintage Port.
