Rich cherry and bramble with spice and a touch of cedar adding shape. Vanilla and tobacco with persistent fruit brightness leading to a bold, satisfying finish.

This village wine is an aromatic red with red berries and a mineral twist. Elegant and firm on the palate, with lightly chewy tannins that still manage to dissolve. There is a sort of red-fruit elegance that rivals a fine pinot, but it is the Mediterranean garnacha that dominates. Drink or hold.

Tank sample. Village wine (Vi de Vila) from Gratallops. Classic Priorat notes of dark-berry fruit, violet and lavender on the nose, with a herbal edge. Succulent, fresh, plush and with fine-grained tannins. Mineral line on the finish. (AWH)
