Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of the 2024 Bourgogne Chardonnay from Au Pied du Mont Chauve
Tasting
Appearance
This white wine reveals a brilliant, crystalline golden hue, enhanced by delicate green reflections.
Nose
The bouquet opens with aromas of white flowers, pear and ripe lemon, harmoniously interwoven with notes of fresh hazelnut. A lovely chalky minerality and subtle brioche-like touches complete the whole.
Palate
Silky and taut, the palate offers a perfect balance between the roundness of white-fleshed fruits and a refreshing acidity. The pure, lingering finish stands out for its lovely saline notes typical of its terroir.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs ideally with seafood, grilled salmon or delicate white fish. It also goes wonderfully with roast poultry, a creamy risotto or hard cheeses such as Comté.
Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy its freshness, this 2024 Bourgogne Chardonnay can be savoured in its youth, but it also has the ageing potential to rest in the cellar until around 2032.
The precision and elegance of a white wine from Burgundy
The estate
Founded in the late 2000s by Francine Picard, the current owner, the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate embodies the excellence of Burgundy. Heir to a family expertise that began in 1951, she brought together the finest historic plots to create a true "haute couture" approach. Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the property extends over 35 hectares of vines cultivated with absolute rigour. Strongly committed to environmental respect, the estate stands out for its biodynamic viticulture and thoughtful farming, producing wines of great purity that authentically express their terroir.
The vineyard
This Burgundy wine comes from an exceptional vineyard spread across the prestigious villages of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. The vines, averaging 40 years old, thrive at around 250 metres in altitude on shallow, very stony clay-limestone soils. Cultivated entirely biodynamically and certified organic since 2019, the vineyard is tended by rigorous manual care, with no mechanisation, allowing the roots to draw the characteristic minerality of these terroirs.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked by complex weather conditions that led to a significant drop in yields. Despite these climatic challenges and increased pressure on the vineyard, a particularly sunny period in September saved the end of the growing cycle. This mild late season allowed the berries to reach optimal physiological ripeness before a harvest carried out later than usual.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
