Carmes de Rieussec 2015

Bright, with white peach, acacia, honeysuckle and yellow apple notes that give this a fresher profile than most of its peers, picking up candied lemon and grapefruit peel accents through the racy finish. A tasty, smaller-scale version for drinking in the near term. Drink now through 2027. 6,000 cases made.

Fewer botrytised grapes go into Carmes than into the grand vin, and it focuses on sweet apricot and caramel flavors. It could use a touch more bite, but it’s very pleasurable. Vinified in barrel with no new oak.

Very pretty second sweet wine of Rieussec with a medium- to full-bodied profile and a layered, tight mouthfeel. Medium sweet and vivid. Pineapple, green papaya and mangoes. Flavorful finish. Hard to drink now. Why not?

A wine of joy and pure pleasure, the 2015 Carmes de Rieussec is absolutely delicious. Rieussec's second wine is bright and lifted, yet shows plenty of depth in its pineapple, orange peel, mint, jasmine and lightly honeyed notes. Although the Grand Vin gets most of the attention at Rieussec, the Carmes is truly superb in 2015 and well worth taking a look at.

Medium yellow, silver reflections. Fine apricot confit, soft blossom honey, sweet exotic yellow fruit, gentle notes of baby banana, elegant, honey on the aftertaste, will soon be ready to drink.

Expressive, aromatic nose with orange peel and marmalade. Creamy palate, smooth mid-palate. A rich and powerful wine for a second wine.

Behind a beautiful liqueur-like character, Carmes 2015 develops citrus aromas, even ripe apricot. A silky, suave wine, carried by the generosity of its terroir and the richness of the vintage.

Les Carmes shows a lovely pineapple nose. The wine is medium-bodied, fresh, with a passerillé character and 125 g/L of residual sugar. A fine success for 2015.
