Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Tours-sur-Marne Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru 2020 from Boizel
Tasting
Appearance
Intense golden hue with amber highlights.
Nose
Rich and expressive, the nose releases indulgent aromas of ripe fruit such as juicy pear, mirabelle plum and morello cherry. This fruity core blends harmoniously with delicious pastry notes reminiscent of brioche, fresh butter and praline.
Palate
The palate charms with a structure that is both dense and perfectly restrained. The radiance of ripe fruit envelops a fine, chalky mineral tension. Carried by an exceptionally delicate tannic framework, this wine stretches out into a long, saline and persistent finish, recalling yellow fruit and brioche.
Food and wine pairings
This fine wine pairs beautifully with roast poultry, such as a chicken supreme with morels, or white meats served with a creamy mushroom sauce. It will also enhance duck breast with red berries, hard cooked cheeses such as an aged Comté, or delicate dishes like pike quenelles or langoustines.
The pure, distinctive expression of a Champagne grand cru by Maison Boizel
The estate
Founded in 1834 in Épernay by Auguste Boizel and Julie Martin, Maison de Champagne Boizel stands out for its pioneering spirit and strong family roots. Located on the famous Avenue de Champagne, it made its mark on history by creating its first bruts as early as 1872. Now part of the Lanson-BCC group, the house is still run by the sixth generation, represented by Florent Roques-Boizel, Chairman and CEO, and his brother Lionel, Managing Director. With 7 hectares of its own vineyards and solid partnerships, Boizel crafts cuvées that combine precision, generosity and an authentic expression of terroir.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes exclusively from the terroir of Tours-sur-Marne, a 52-hectare grand cru located at the crossroads of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne. Facing south-east, at altitudes ranging from 90 to 180 metres, the vines thrive on clay-limestone soils with a very high proportion of chalk. This distinctive Champagne terroir gives the grapes optimal ripeness while preserving a fine mineral tension.
Winemaking and ageing
To preserve the original aromatic brilliance of the fruit and the purity of the terroir, the Tours-sur-Marne Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru 2020 is vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks. The wine then undergoes extended ageing of five years on the lees, encouraging the development of its complexity and the seamless integration of its effervescence.
