A generous and refined Haut-Médoc wine
The estate
Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, Château Belgrave is a former hunting lodge dating back to the 18th century. This Left Bank estate of Bordeaux has been owned by Maison Dourthe since 1979.
The vineyard
From the Haut-Médoc appellation, Château Belgrave comes from a 60-hectare single-block vineyard, 95% of which corresponds to the perimeter classified in 1855. At the heart of the Médoc, these exceptional vines lie on two mounds of deep gravel resting on a clay subsoil.
The vintage
The 2025 vintage stands out for its particularly favourable conditions throughout the growing season. After a mild and dry winter, budbreak took place under excellent conditions, despite a fertility potential weakened by the spring of 2024. From May onwards, warm and dry weather firmly settled in. Flowering, early and even, began on 19 May, ensuring an excellent fruit set. From mid-June, water deficits set in early on the gravelly soils, stimulating the synthesis of polyphenols and reinforcing the tannic richness of the berries. Véraison began on 15 July, indicating a steady ripening without interruption. The intense summer heat accelerated the cycle, before rainfall in late August and early September restored the balance of ripeness. The harvest, early and concentrated (3-19 September), yielded dense and expressive grapes, deeply marked by their terroirs, with naturally moderate yields.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (68%), Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (2%).
