Vinum

Complex, herb-spiced and slightly vegetal, a hint of bell pepper, floral tones, red berry fruit; fresh and balanced on the palate, showing breed and precision, marked, powdery tannins, a delicate fruit core, a fresh, slightly saline finish. It has developed very well since En Primeur.

Decanter

Lovely scents and flavours of strawberries, chalky blueberries and ripe blackcurrants with softly chalky edges. Tannins have the perfect amount of grip, gently framing the fruit and acidity and driving the flavours forward. Good oak integration with no hints of overt spice or heat. Some leather, tobacco and dried herbal aspects on the finish with some graphite too. Fresh and appealing.

James Suckling

This shows deep aromas of red and dark berries with hints of red spices, hibiscus, cocoa and some cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with velvety tannins and a dusty, minerally aftertaste. Rich but not heavy, with a lot of fleshy fruit in the middle. Try from 2028.

Vinous

Antonio Galloni

The 2022 Chauvin is a dense, plush wine. A rush of dark cherry fruit, chocolate, mocha and new leather makes a strong first impression. Plump, juicy and super-expressive, the 2022 is a rich, heady Saint-Émilion. Pretty floral notes lift the finish. There's a lot more freshness here today. This is nicely done.

Everything worked well here starting with the floral perfume, and finishing with a medium-bodied wine loaded with silky-textured, black raspberries, cherries, licorice, and cocoa. This is the best vintage of Chateau Chauvin ever produced. Drink from 2026-2042.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Deep dark ruby garnet, inky, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Tobacco, dark cherries, ripe plums, some nougat, a touch of fine oak. Fresh and elegant, a juicy wine with good fruit and ripe cherries. Delicious, a long finish, very good ageing potential.

Great quality, this is an enjoyable vintage of Chauvin, with fleshy red fruits, anise, fennel, slate, blood orange, and campfire notes. Cazes-Regimbeau family, 50% new oak, harvest from September 19 to October 13.

Le Figaro Vin

Generous and fresh on the nose, the wine unfolds on the palate with voluptuousness, while retaining fine linearity, with well-anchored tannins.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Very deep red color. Intense nose with pure, ripe fruit. Cocoa note. Caressing on the attack, highly aromatic mid-palate, very well built, with flesh all along the progression and flavor; the wine retains its succulence through to the finish, where it shows a sappy, fragrant tannic frame. Very long length. Blend: 78% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.

92-94 Barrel sample. The wine may be young, but it already has a fine balance of fruit and structure. Its ripe tannins go with the black-plum and berry fruits to give a wine of fine promise.
