Characteristics and tasting notes for the Saint-Amour 2022 from Château des Bachelards
Tasting notes
Colour
This red wine reveals a brilliant garnet hue with beautiful luminosity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet exudes subtle floral notes combining violet and orange, complemented by fresh red fruit aromas such as raspberry and cherry, along with a delicate hint of menthol.
Palate
The attack is silky and delicious, offering an enveloping texture. The mid-palate, rich and endowed with wonderfully fine tannins, reveals a lovely tension. The finish lingers with elegance, purity and freshness, enhanced by a very slight bitterness.

This cuvée pairs perfectly with white meats such as guinea fowl or roast chicken accompanied by refined sauces. It will also enhance vegetarian dishes such as pumpkin or chard gratin, as well as summer dishes like carpaccio or tartare.
Service and storage
Already approachable in its youth, this Saint-Amour 2022 will continue to evolve favourably and can be kept in the cellar until around 2027.
Other characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%.
The elegance and complexity of a terroir wine from Beaujolais
The estate
Founded around 1100 by the monks of Cluny Abbey, Château des Bachelards is a historic estate located in Fleurie, at the heart of Beaujolais. Spanning twelve hectares, the estate stands out for its pioneering approach and its triple certification in organic and biodynamic farming. Recently acquired by Matthieu Gufflet, the estate remains under the operational direction of Alexandra de Vazeilles, who joined in 2014. Together, they carry forward a philosophy centred on environmental respect and the authentic expression of terroir, establishing the estate as one of the region's benchmarks.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from two hectares of plots located within the Saint-Amour appellation. Facing due south on a mid-slope, these very old vines, aged between sixty and one hundred years and grown from massale selection, thrive on deep soils of decomposed black granite, crossed by veins of clay and loess. The vineyard is cultivated at high planting density and incorporates agroforestry practices to preserve local biodiversity.
Winemaking and ageing
Hand-harvested grapes in small crates precede a gravity-fed reception of the berries. Made without any chemical inputs or thermovinification techniques, this Saint-Amour 2022 ferments using indigenous yeasts in raw concrete vats. After a twenty-eight-day maceration allowing for gentle extraction, the wine undergoes eighteen months of ageing in demi-muids and foudres, thereby preserving all its freshness and complexity.
Grape variety
100% Gamay.
