Vinum

Interesting herbal-tea aromatics, medium-density herbal tannins, fresh, herbaceous finish. Easy to drink, absolutely needs some ageing after maturation.

Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

Delivers a direct core of plum and boysenberry fruit, spiked with anise, balsa wood and sweet spice notes. This has fleshed out after showing a leaner profile in barrel. Drink now through 2018. 3,330 cases made.

James Suckling

Firm and silky with a lovely texture, I like the milk-chocolate, berry and walnut character to this wine. Medium to full body. Better in 2016.

Weinwisser

Dark garnet, fairly dense in the middle, ruby rim. Quite sweet bouquet, black cherry notes with a touch of grenadine, somewhat stewed. Creamy palate, subtly muscular extract, juicy finish, again quite sweet. A Burgundian Pomerol.

René Gabriel

Dark garnet, fairly dense at the core, ruby rim. Quite sweet bouquet, black cherry notes mingle with a touch of grenadine, giving the nose a slightly stewed impression. Creamy palate, subtly muscular extract, juicy finish, again fairly sweet. Burgundian Pomerol.

André Kunz

(96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon) Silky, finely opulent, floral bouquet, black cherries, blueberries, caramel, toasted notes. Silky, more austere palate with sweet fruit, plenty of slightly dry tannins, spicy aromatics, long, austere finish. 17/20 2019 - 2032

The wine has depth and a beautiful structure. Lots of substance.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Dark red color. Lovely nose with ripe, fragrant fruit. A smooth, silky, and flavorful palate. Normal length. A nice surprise.

Description

A light red Pomerol wine

Château La Croix du Casse was acquired in 2005 by the Castéja family and is located at the southern end of the Pomerol appellation. Red wine is produced on a terroir composed of gravel and ancient sandy soils that have a subsoil of iron oxide. The vines consist of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

The Château La Croix du Casse 2011 has smoky and fleshy notes on the nose, with hints of liquorice, caramel and black cherry. This medium-bodied wine should be consumed quickly.
