Decanter

Another excellent vintage from this trusty estate. A cool crystalline nose, cola, liquorice, tar and blueberries. So clean and pure. Crisp and focused from the off, a cooling menthol and blackcurrant element, soft grippy tannins and the most beautiful juicy mid palate that just makes you smile. A happy wine. It’s powerful no doubt but in a restrained way without any heaviness. Vibrant and energetic. I love the focus, the freshness and relatively delicacy. Filing in the month but this is exceptional in terms of fruit purity. Very drinkable. A yield of 30hl/ha. 3.68pH.

Silky, elegant, and refined, the wine is medium-bodied, soft, and almost delicate in its delivery. The vibrant red fruits express a gorgeous purity, softness, and refinement, leaving you with fresh, energetic waves of red berries, spice, and a refreshing hint of mint. While you will be able to enjoy this young, it has the potential to age and evolve for at least 2 decades or more. The wine is aged in 50% new, French oak, and 10% amphora. Drink from 2029-2052. 94-96 Pts

Delicious slate character, enjoyable pumice stone, depth and nuance here, great lift and floral character - rose buds and peony, cranberry and pomegranate, touch of blood orange, this has texture and interest and is measured. Definitely one to watch over ageing. Harvest September 8 to 20. 50% new oak, 15% in amphora. Gwendeline Lucas director.

With good intensity, the bouquet of La Dominique reveals notes of blackcurrant and licorice, while the oak ageing works subtly in the background. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine shows fleshy, muscular tannins that provide a solid backbone. It stands out for its harmony and for its ability to handle its power, supported by acidity that is both structuring and refreshing. A wine that should gain in finesse and persistence. All the necessary elements are there; the ageing will bring it to completion.

A beautiful deep, intense red. Very aromatic nose with ripe, subtle fruit. A creamy touch when the glass is swirled. Delicate on entry, especially flavorful on the mid-palate; with a hint of firmness through the progression, the wine nonetheless develops into a smooth finish of good length. Blend: 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet franc. Alcohol: 14% – pH: 3.6. Yield: 29 hl/ha.

Vinum

Open nose with violet blossoms, black cherries, and a cool fireplace note; on the palate it is fruity and lightly creamy, then shows firm, gripping tannins and crunchy fruit; the finish is balanced; terroir-driven, saline, fresh.

Description

A silky Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé with beautiful finesse

The estate

Established in the 18th century, although its origins date back to the 16th century, Château La Dominique is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé acquired in 1969 by Clément Fayat, an entrepreneur in the construction sector. Under the leadership of the Fayat family, the current owners, this estate on the right bank of Bordeaux has undergone a profound transformation, with a complete restructuring of the vineyard and the construction of a contemporary red winery designed by Jean Nouvel, inaugurated in 2013.

The vineyard

This Château La Dominique 2025 comes from a 21.2-hectare vineyard in production within the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vines, with an average age of 25 years, thrive on a diverse terroir combining clay, clay-gravel soils and sand over clay.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes, harvested by hand, are vinified in temperature-controlled truncated conical vats. Ageing lasts 14 months, with 50% in new barrels, 35% in one-wine barrels and 15% in amphorae. Alcohol content: 13.6%

Blend

Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%).
