Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Château Laroque 2025
Tasting
Color
This wine reveals a red color ranging from medium to deep.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with great elegance, releasing subtle floral notes reminiscent of violet and lilac, delicately underscored by fine spicy touches.
Palate
With a medium body and beautiful freshness, the palate offers remarkable balance. It unfolds pure aromas of red fruits such as raspberry, tart cherry, and wild strawberry. The whole is supported by silky tannins, crystalline minerality, and a saline edge that bring great energy, depth, and a long, savory finish.
Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée will pair wonderfully with fine grilled red meats, a roast beef, or game such as a venison fillet. It will also accompany aged hard cheeses very well, as well as dishes showcasing wild mushrooms and truffles.
Serving and Cellaring
With a beautiful mineral structure and natural acidity, this 2025 vintage has excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed until around 2055.
Other Characteristics
The pH of this wine is 3.40 with an alcohol content of 13.8°.
The Mineral Brilliance of a Great Saint-Émilion Terroir
The Estate
Established in the 12th century as a defensive fortress, Château Laroque is a historic property in the Bordeaux region. After a period of dormancy, the estate was revived in 1935 when it was acquired by the Beaumartin family, still its current owner. Today managed by Stanislas Droin and technically directed by David Suire, this 61-hectare jewel in a single block stands as the largest estate of its appellation, renowned for its architectural heritage and the high quality of its production.
The Vineyard
Located on the heights of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, the single-block vineyard overlooks the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vines, averaging 45 years old and originating from old massale selections, thrive on a complex geological plateau. This exceptional terroir is composed of three distinct types of limestone mingled with blond, red, and white clays. The estate is farmed using non-certified organic practices and benefits from the Haute Valeur Environnementale label, fostering rich biodiversity.
Vinification and Aging
Tailored, fully manual harvests. The Merlot berries were picked between September 10 and 19, followed by the Cabernet Franc on September 19. With yields of 31 hl/ha, rigorous sorting allowed 66% of the grapes and juices to be selected for the grand vin. To craft this wine, the whole berries are vatted by gravity. Vinifications are carried out plot by plot in small concrete vats. Aging then takes place traditionally on fine lees for 16 to 18 months. Half of the wine rests in barrels (including 50% new oak) and the other half in oak foudres. Alcohol: 13.8% vol.
Grape Varieties
99% Merlot from so-called "old" massale selection, 1% Cabernet Franc
