Château Latour-Martillac 2024

Complex nose, mineral-driven, cool stone, red fruit, floral notes, spices; silk-smooth on the palate, light body, delicate fruit, fine-grained tannins, fresh, spicy, red-fruited finish, lingering blood orange.

Medium ruby-purple in appearance. Nose is reserved, but the palate offers solid depth with dark berries and black cherry. Tannins are firm and grainy, though the fruit feels slightly subdued. Earthy on the finish. Needs time to find focus, but the structure is promising.

Smoked herbs, tobacco leaves, black cherries, and cocoa fill the perfume. The wine is medium-bodied, energetic, and spicy, with a peppery edge to the black raspberries on the mid-palate. The finish comes in with more of those spices, bright red berries, and a tiny hint of chocolate on the backend. This should be approachable young. The wine blends 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and 13% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Drink from 2027-2040. 90-92 pts

Sweet notes of blackcurrant and floral aromas share a rather charming bouquet, marked by tenderness and gaiety. This radiant sensation carries onto the palate, with a supple, slender texture and nicely tangy blue-fruit notes, stretching into a long finish.

This feels classic old school Bordeaux, with a dose of grilled coffee and is delivering what it needs to - dark fruits, leafy aromatics, balanced and gentle, with fresh acidities that don't overwhelm. 42 hl/ha yield. Unfussy and well made, no need to wait too long to begin drinking.
