A complex, elegant red wine from an exceptional Provençal estate
The estate
Located in Bormes-les-Mimosas, in the heart of Provence, Château Malherbe spans a unique, preserved 25-hectare terroir on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea, near Cap Bénat, Fort de Brégançon, and Pointe du Diable. For four generations, the Ferrari family has passionately cultivated the lands of the Malherbe estate.
Covering 25 hectares, the estate comprises two distinct terroirs that give rise to two wine ranges: "Malherbe" and "Pointe du Diable". The "Malherbe" range, from a clay-schist terroir, offers broad, sun-kissed age-worthy wines marked by strong minerality. The "Pointe du Diable" range, set along the coastline on sandy soils enriched with quartz, produces fine, elegant wines with a refreshing saline touch thanks to the influence of sea breezes.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by favorable weather conditions, allowing for optimal grape ripening. The grapes were hand-harvested in mid-September under ideal conditions.
Winemaking
Winemaking begins with a short vatting period during which punching down is carried out, followed by running off and careful pressing. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and is completed by malolactic fermentation to enhance the wine’s digestibility. Aging then continues for 10 months in Burgundy barrels.
