Vinum

Dense, firm, well-structured, impeccably crafted, with good length.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2014 Marquis-de-Terme offers strawberry preserve and raspberry coulis on the nose, quite pure and generous, though I would like to see more mineralité and terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. The oak needs to fully knit on the entry, though there is sufficient fruit to absorb that with time, and the finish feels caressing in the mouth. If this can foster more terroir expression, more personality, then it will merit a higher score. It's like a film director yelling at the actress... give me more!

Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

Focused, with dusty tannins carrying the core of dark cherry, damson plum and black currant coulis flavors. Light black tea and warm stone accents show on the finish. Best from 2018 through 2024. 9,167 cases made.

Wine Enthusiast

Roger Voss

A dense wine that is showing signs of heavy extraction, with dark chocolate and bitter flavors. In a vintage with crisp fruitiness being the defining factor, it is a bit of a shame. The dark edge needs to mellow before the wine can balance out.

Decanter

Things really head up an extra step here in precision and in the expression of fruit and tannins. Subtle power on display, filling things out in the mid palate with black fruits, gentle spices, rosemary, savoury tobacco leaf. 50% new oak. There is a softness to the tannins and you could begin to drink this if you want to, but it will get better with a little more bottle ageing. At this point 60% of the winery had been redone, new vats, integral vinification, ageing on the lees.

Chocolate and vanilla on the nose and bold dry tannins on the palate. They need some time to harmonize, but there’s a lot of depth, and this has great ageing potential! Needs until 2021 to open.

The 2014 Marquis de Terme has really come together nicely. Dark, pliant and supple, it offers notable depth and intensity. Sweet herb, licorice, menthol, chocolate and smoke infuse a core of dark stone fruit. The 2014 shows quite a bit better from bottle than it did from barrel. Hopefully, the overt oak will soften a bit over time. There is certainly plenty to look forward to.

Medium-bodied, finesse-driven wine with a fresh cherry character, toasty oak, and a finish of sweet yet light fruit.

Deep purple-garnet, dense at the core, with a violet hue at the rim. A wonderful, layered and concentrated fruity bouquet, with a good dose of pepper as well. Concentrated on the palate, with well-supporting tannins; with ageing, a little more sweetness will come through. The potential is very good.

René Gabriel

Deep purple-garnet color, dense at the core, with a violet sheen at the rim. A terrific, complex and concentrated fruity bouquet, with a good dose of pepper as well. On the palate, concentrated, with well-supporting tannins; with ageing, a bit more sweetness will come through. The potential is very good.

Fresh, mineral, elegant bouquet with notes of strawberries, blueberries, vanilla, slate, and truffle. A refined, dense palate with fine, vibrant fruit, good tannins, a classic, finely muscular structure, complex aromatics, and a long finish. 17/20 2021 - 2038

This is the vintage where Marquis de Terme takes a noticeable step forward, turning into one of the hidden treasures in Margaux. Love the brambled fruit and hedgerow spices, textured, bright, vivid, earthy, tannic grip and salinity, touch of liquorice root and graphite. Good stuff, one to look out for. Stainless steel introduced in the cellars as of the 2013 vintage, but 2014 is a better vintage to showcase the additional precision that they brought. 50% new oak for ageing, Diam cork. Harvest September 23 to October 17, a long leisurely harvest under dry skies after a more challenging summer. Laurent David estate director, Sénéclauze family owners.

The wine has gained considerably in precision and structure, offering a well-crafted, solid wine.

Le Figaro Vin

The enchanting aromas of roasted coffee carry through to the palate, with a smooth, charming wine—light in concentration yet harmonious—ending on a lovely spicy finish.

Garnet-red with purplish highlights. A nicely intense bouquet with notes of liquorice and a touch of caramel. Aromas of black fruits. A nicely intense attack that clearly expresses the Margaux terroir. Pleasant freshness, with grainy tannins emerging on the finish. The structure supports the fruit well through to the finish. Fruity finish. A very fine success.

Vertdevin

The nose is aromatic, elegant and refined, with notes of dark chocolate, toasted oak and blackberry, alongside delicate hints of blackcurrant, a touch of strawberry, subtle notes of cardamom and a very discreet touch of vanilla. The palate is fruity, elegant, straight and fine, perfectly balanced, with a distinctive minerality. On the palate, the wine reveals blackberry and black cherry, with delicate notes of strawberry and raspberry, combined with toasted oak, coffee and cocoa. The tannins are fine and youthful (wait 5 years) and slightly dry. The finish is indulgent/silky. Lovely persistence. A wine of great finesse!

Beautiful deep colour. Fruity, fresh nose, moderately aromatic. Fruity, caressing palate, a little discreet on the mid-palate. Well-rounded tannins. Medium length.
