Château Nénin 2013

Lovely fresh Nenin, with a fairly dense, complex structure. With great finesse, it has brought out the best of the vintage. Also 16.5.

Offers candied plum and raspberry reduction notes, with a dose of sweet licorice holding the finish. A touch firm, with a plum skin edge checking in, though this remains generally juicy and ready to go. Shows much more density now than when tasted from barrel. Drink now through 2019. 3,167 cases made.

Although polished and balanced, this Nenin is very subdued. It's fragrant if not very expressive on the nose, with delicate cherry fruit, and the palate is fresh and limpid, with no rough edges and enough underlying acidity to give some intensity. But it's not especially complex or nuanced.

Delicate and fruity with a fresh backbone of acidity and juicy fruit. Medium body, light tannins with cherry, berry and citrus undertones. Fresh and delicious. Drink now.

From a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 13.3% ABV and will be aged in 20% new French oak. Light ruby in color, the medium-bodied wine has reticent aromas of spicy red berries, herbs and hints of earth that transition into a light, fresh, and peppery finish with cherries and strawberries. 88-90 Pts

Floral and perfumed nose with violet, red berries, mineral notes and fine oak. Medium weight, rather intense flavor with red and dark berries, fresh acidity, balanced yet ripe tannins, and a rather long finish.

Bright garnet with medium density, fine rim. Slightly sweet bouquet, red fruit compote, delicate herbal notes, pink pepper. Refined palate, not particularly deep, but thanks to the high proportion of one third Cabernet Franc, it remains velvety through to the finish.

Raspberry, redcurrant, with plenty of grain to the tannins that gives grip through the palate, and a fresh kick of white pepper spice on the finish. Less expressive than the surrounding vintages, but a sculpted wine with a hint of sweet red cherry fruit. 35% new oak.

Slightly firm tannins, with obvious potential and, above all, a balance well-suited to the vintage. As usual, it’s a long-distance runner.

This wine is perfumed with a high proportion of Cabernet Franc, giving structure and tannins as well as blackberry fruits. Like all the wines of the vintage, it is fruity although it balances that characteristic with the tight final texture. Drink from 2019.
