Domaine de la Solitude 2022

Roasted aromas, clear, pure fruit, dried herbs, violet notes, very playful; approachable palate, gripping, balanced, firm tannins, solid length, red-fruited finish, ending on blood orange zest. Well done!

Shows a mulled edge, with red currant and cherry fruit melding with tea, singed sandalwood and rose hip accents. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2029. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 10,000 cases made.

Deep and highly aromatic on the nose – freshly picked red berries with dried herbs and a touch of liquorice. Supple and forward, this has nice energy and bounce. Creamy, super juicy and with a cooling mineral bite that comes across as slightly spiced with graphite and pencil lead accents and a slight chalky powderiness on the tongue. Really lovely frame and focus. Great to drink now, has plenty of punch but with lovely finesse too. Easy to enjoy this.

Very perfumed, bright and crunchy. Rose petals, lemons and other citrus fruits. Medium body with citrus and raspberry flavors. Linear and long with lovely energy and vivacity. Drinkable now, but better in a couple of years.

The 2022 Domaine de la Solitude is soft, open-knit and very appealing. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, orange peel and cinnamon build effortlessly in the glass. Silky, plush tannins wrap it all together in style. This is a very pretty, floral wine from Martillac.

Smoke, wet earth, spice, and black cherries with a touch of flowers pop on the nose. On the medium-bodied palate, there are loads of sweet, ripe, juicy dark red fruits, freshness, and creamy tannins. This is going to be delicious on release. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon with 40% Merlot. Drink from 2025-2038.

Spicy red and black fruits, savory tobacco, spicy wood, and leather notes all shine in the 2022 Domaine De La Solitude, a medium-bodied 2022 with a beautiful overall balance, a supple, layered mouthfeel, and nicely integrated tannins. It plays on the more complex, elegant end of the spectrum and is already hard to resist, yet it should easily evolve for 15+ years or more. The blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, all raised in 35% new oak.

Sappy, reserved in all the right places, with juicy black fruits, hints of sage and liquorice, never tipping into overripeness but right on the line, showing Pessac Léognan balance and approachability, good quality, one to look out for.

Dark red color. Very aromatic nose with ripe, subtle fruit. Soft, flavorful palate that becomes juicy, with good length and no angular tannins. Blend: 60% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 5% petit verdot.
