An elegant, generous American Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills

The estate

Founded in 1987 by Robert Drouhin and his daughter Véronique, Domaine Drouhin Oregon spans 100 hectares in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Run by the great-grandchildren of Joseph Drouhin, founder of the Beaune-based Maison in 1880, this estate embodies the transatlantic expansion of this winegrowing family. Véronique Boss-Drouhin oversees winemaking according to certified LIVE sustainable viticulture principles, applying a Burgundian approach to Oregon’s terroir with hand harvesting, gravity-flow winemaking, and aging in French barrels.

The vineyard

The Dundee Hills vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir in the Willamette Valley. Managed according to LIVE certification principles for sustainable viticulture with low environmental impact, it produces grapes of remarkable quality. Harvesting is carried out by hand in 12 kg crates, followed by meticulous hand sorting.

The vintage

The 2023 vintage is marked by late budbreak on April 30, followed by a sudden rise in temperatures and exceptionally low rainfall. This record period between budbreak and flowering, under 45 days, led to rapid vine development. Harvest took place from September 23 to October 5, with some rain at the end of picking. The grapes reached excellent ripeness and were in perfect health.

Winemaking and aging

After hand sorting and destemming, Pinot Noir 2023 is vinified in a four-level gravity-flow winery. A long fermentation gently extracts aromas and structure. The aging of this American wine continues in French oak barrels carefully selected by Véronique Boss-Drouhin.
