Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Bourgogne Chardonnay Joseph Faiveley 2023 from Domaine Faiveley

Tasting notes

Appearance
A beautiful golden hue, reminiscent of deep straw, adorns this wine and reflects a lovely ripeness of fruit.

Nose
Highly expressive, the bouquet releases delicate aromas of white flowers intertwined with fruity notes of green apple, peach, lemon and apricot. Subtle hints of vanilla, butter and cream, imparted by oak ageing, elegantly enrich this aromatic palette.

Palate
The attack is generous and full, opening onto a medium-bodied palate with an almost creamy texture. The balance is remarkable, underpinned by a fine mineral backbone and moderate acidity, extending towards a finish of exceptional persistence for this appellation.

Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, oysters or grilled salmon. It also goes beautifully with white meats such as roast poultry or veal, as well as cow's milk cheeses like Époisses. To round off the meal, it will elevate a peach or apple tart.

Serving and cellaring

This wine is particularly enjoyable in its youth and can be savoured now, or kept until around 2026.

A full-bodied and refined white wine from Burgundy

The estate

Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a true institution. Spanning 120 hectares across the region's finest terroirs, the estate is now led by the seventh generation, represented by Eve and Erwan Faiveley. Blending respect for tradition with a contemporary vision, the domaine stands out for its environmental commitment, crowned by organic farming certification in 2025, the year of its bicentenary.

The vineyard

This Burgundy wine comes from a meticulous selection of plots spread across the estate's various terroirs. The vines flourish on limestone-rich soils, offering a wonderful diversity of microclimates that give the wine all its complexity and minerality.

The vintage

2023 stands out as a vintage of great quality in the region. Despite occasionally unsettled weather during the growing season, a particularly radiant end of summer allowed the berries to reach optimal physiological ripeness while preserving lovely freshness.

Winemaking and ageing

The making of this wine follows the purest regional tradition. The wine is aged on fine lees in French oak barrels for a period of eight to ten months, encouraging the development of its creamy texture and aromatic complexity.

Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
