Domaine Georges Vernay : Terres d'Encre 2022

Crafted from vines located in Chavannay, the northernmost commune in the Saint-Joseph appellation, known for its granite soils, the 2022 Saint-Joseph Terres d'Encre reveals a spicy, deep bouquet of licorice, dark berries, pencil lead and pepper. Medium to full-bodied, dense and structured, it's concentrated with a fleshy core of fruit underpinned by a fresh and floral finish that gives it a more elegant, refined character with freshness and finesse. Entirely made from destemmed Syrah and matured for one year in large barrels, its fresh, taut profile defies the vintage’s typical style and promises over a decade of cellar potential.

This dark-hued wine comes from 30-year-old Syrah vines planted on granite soils in the commune of Chavanay. It offers impressive mid-palate density, with a crunchy edge and lovely notes of fresh black fruits. The finish is very classy, marked by a mineral backbone.
