Nose
The nose opens with notes of ripe dark fruit, supported by touches of sweet spice and a subtle, well-integrated hint of oak.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is powerful and structured, carried by a present yet controlled oak influence that extends the aromatic generosity found on the nose.
Food and Wine Pairing
This Côtes du Rhône is an ideal partner for grilled or braised red meats, game, and the slow-cooked, sauce-based dishes typical of French cuisine. It also pairs very well with mature cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
La Part des Vivants 2024 is best served at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. Light decanting will allow the wine to fully reveal its dark fruit and spice aromas.
A Côtes du Rhône from Domaine Garon, Combining Power and Spicy Notes
The Estate
Officially founded in 2003 in Ampuis, in the heart of the Rhône Valley, Domaine Garon continues a family presence documented since the 15th century on the slopes of Côte-Rôtie. Today, Jean-François and Carmen Garon run the estate alongside their sons Kévin and Fabien. The estate now spans more than 16 hectares and offers a range of 17 cuvées. The Garon family works its soils without herbicides and favours a respectful approach to viticulture, producing wines that remain true to the expression of their terroirs.
The Vineyard
The vines used for this Côtes du Rhône cuvée extend across gentle slopes with varied exposures. The soils, made up of alluvial deposits and glacial moraines, combine rounded stones, gravel, silt and clay, providing good drainage while retaining a water reserve that is beneficial to the ripening of the grapes.
Winemaking and Ageing
The winemaking of La Part des Vivants 2024 begins with fermentation of destemmed grapes, with regular pump-overs and infusions to extract the full aromatic and tannic potential of the fruit. Ageing is carried out in barrels and tanks depending on the grape variety, in order to preserve the freshness of the fruit while adding structure to the wine. The entire wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, then is filtered without fining, with sulphites added only after alcoholic fermentation.
Grape Varieties
Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre.
