Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Clos des Chevaliers" Monopole 2024 Jean Chartron

Tasting

Color
The color reveals a brilliant pale golden-yellow hue, with remarkable luminosity.

Nose
Remarkably intense, the bouquet reveals aromas of white flowers mingled with notes of dried fruits such as walnut and chestnut, all underscored by a striking minerality.

Palate
Precise and concentrated, the palate offers beautiful tension. It unfolds flavors of stone fruit and fresh citrus, elevated by a mineral and saline framework. The finish, persistent and savory, reveals a wonderfully subtle integration of oak.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with oysters, scallops in beurre blanc, or noble fish such as turbot and sole. It also complements poultry in cream sauce as well as aged pressed cheeses such as Comté.

Service and storage

Endowed with fine aging potential, this Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Clos des Chevaliers" Monopole 2024 will be at its best between approximately 2029 and 2035.

The elegance of a great white Burgundy

The estate

Founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, the Jean Chartron estate stands as a true institution in Burgundy. Established in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, this family-owned property oversees a vineyard of approximately 14.50 hectares spread across prestigious terroirs. Today, the fifth generation, embodied by Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron, leads the estate with undiminished passion. Building on their heritage, they carry on an age-old expertise while adopting environmentally responsible practices, elevating their wines among the finest references in the region.

The vineyard

The Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Clos des Chevaliers" Monopole 2024 comes from an exclusive 0.55-hectare plot, held by the family since 1917. Situated at an altitude of approximately 265 meters, this terroir benefits from an ideal east-southeast exposure. The vines, some of which were replanted in 1948, 1974, and 1986, thrive on clay-limestone soils rich in marine minerals. The estate favors sustainable viticulture, with mechanical soil work and rigorous hand-harvesting to ensure optimal fruit quality.

The vintage

2024 stands out for its rather cool climatic conditions. The growing cycle required constant attention due to fungal pressure. The harvest, which began in mid-September, yielded berries with excellent phenolic ripeness and beautiful natural acidity, resulting in juices of great precision.

Winemaking and aging

The Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Clos des Chevaliers" Monopole 2024 is vinified in French oak barrels, 30 to 35% of which are new. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in these wooden vessels, under strict temperature control. The wine is then aged on fine lees for approximately fourteen months, followed by a brief stint in stainless steel tanks to refine its balance before light fining and gentle filtration ahead of bottling.
