Description
La Sirene Giscours 2016: A Superbly Structured Margaux
La Sirene de Giscours, the second wine of Chateau Giscours, is produced in the Margaux appellation. This red wine comes from a 95-hectare vineyard planted on Garonne gravels and sands of glacial origin. The aging is done in barrels with 50% of the wine in new oak barrels for about 12 to 15 months. This 2016 vintage is made from a blend of 58% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot.
The Sirene Giscours 2016 develops black plums aromas along with notes of incense, and the oak is perfectly integrated into the wine. On the palate, there are grainy tannins, and hints of black fruits and soya. The Sirene Giscours 2016 reveals a superbly structured saline finish, and has the potential to age.
