Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2022

A good Les Fiefs de Lagrange that’s fruitier than the grand vin on the palate but remains demure and layered on the nose, showing a full picture of Bordeaux Left Bank complexity with currants, paprika, cocoa powder, cedar and fine spices. Fruity and round, this has judicious tannins and a refined, lengthy finish. Bravo for this producer! Really pleasant now but will hold.

The 2022 Les Fiefs de Lagrange has a pretty nose with blackcurrant, raspberry and a light floral touch that emerges with aeration. It just needs a little coaxing. The medium-bodied palate features pliant tannins and a bit of chewiness on the mid-palate, leading to a briny, short finish. Fine.

Ripe red and black currants, leafy tobacco, and loamy earth notes all emerge from the 2022 Les Fiefs De Lagrange, a charming, medium- to full-bodied, round, layered second wine that has ripe tannins, a layered, balanced mouthfeel, and a great finish.

Plenty of depth and spice, giving balance to fully ripe fruits that head towards fig and baked plum. Dark chocolate, black pepper, and cigar box add complexity, but this is intense.

Fresh, playful, appetizing and lively, this bouquet invites you to take the encounter further. The acidity of small red fruits dominates a delicious, energetic texture.

Logo on the cork: inverted T (Trescases) Beautiful dark colour, intense and youthful. Lovely, highly aromatic nose with pure fruit, ripe and vanilla notes. Supple on the attack, smooth and fragrant through the mid-palate, the wine develops with a melting, juicy texture and an overall subtlety never seen before. Very fine fruit and oak relay on the finish. Alcohol by volume: 13.6% - pH: 3.53.

Tasted blind. Interesting, mildly cheesy nose with a hint of ginger. Good grip. Hint of sandpaper but not too much. (JR)
