Description

The elegance and generosity of a Nuits-Saint-Georges by Louis Latour

The estate

Officially founded in 1797, the Maison Louis Latour is a family-run and independent institution in Burgundy. Representing the twelfth generation, Florent Latour currently runs the estate, supported by Eléonore Latour. The estate oversees a vineyard of 48 to 50 hectares, making it the largest Grand Cru estate in the Côte d'Or. A committed advocate of sustainable viticulture, this producer also stands out for a unique feature in the region: it owns its own artisanal cooperage, ensuring perfect mastery over the aging of its wines.

The vineyard

The grapes behind this wine come from the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, thrive on clay-limestone soils typical of this terroir. The estate practices sustainable viticulture, including biological pest control, to preserve the natural balance and biodiversity of the plots.

The vintage

2024 proved to be a particularly challenging year in terms of weather. The season was marked by rainfall well above average, favoring strong pressure from fungal diseases. Adding to these heavy rains were episodes of frost and hail that drastically reduced yields. Thanks to relentless work in the vineyards, the harvest, later than usual and completed at the end of September, allowed grapes with a good level of ripeness to be picked.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes for this Nuits-Saint-Georges Village 2024 are harvested by hand. Traditional winemaking takes place in open vats and is accompanied by a complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, some of which are new. These barrels, given a medium toast, are entirely crafted by the estate's own cooperage.

Grape variety

Pinot Noir (100%).
