The 2020 Volnay 1er Cru En Chevret is a medium- to full-bodied, ample and layered wine evocative of blackberries, spices and forest floor. Authoritative yet suave, it has turned out well.

Lush and expressive, exhibiting blackberry, black currant and violet flavors, with accents of mineral and spice. The firm structure emerges as this builds to a fruit-filled aftertaste. Best from 2024 through 2033. 800 cases made, 350 cases imported.

This is so sensual that it's dangerous and it ought to be classified as a listed drug! So sweet, silky and delicate, in spite of the excellent structure behind it. Only medium-bodied, but in a particular way that increases its appeal. Then comes the very fresh finish that makes it positively refreshing. Drink or hold.

More aromatic and stylistic diversity than Epenot, with a supple texture, but the tannin is not yet fully integrated and a few additional months in barrel are needed.

Powerful and concentrated aromas of crushed rose petals and strawberry shrub dusted with white pepper sit atop a layer of wild mint, cardamom and musk. Dark black cherry, black licorice and oak spice meld seamlessly with its youthful tannins. Cellar well through 2035+.
