Colour: This wine reveals a bright, luminous colour with garnet highlights.

Nose: The bouquet is particularly expressive and lively. It offers superb aromatic richness dominated by notes of fresh red fruits such as cherry, raspberry, strawberry and morello cherry, complemented by touches of black fruits such as blackcurrant and blueberry, as well as subtle woody nuances from its ageing.

Palate: The attack is silky, giving way to a texture that is fresh, substantial and well structured. There is a remarkable balance between fruit concentration and lovely vibrancy. The high-quality tannins support a rich, exceptionally long finish.

Food and wine pairing

This cuvée pairs beautifully with duck dishes, whether served pink, grilled or in a sauce. It also works very well with grilled red meats, slow-cooked stews, warm roasted starters, as well as characterful local cheeses such as Époisses or Langres.

The Marsannay Village Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs 2019 is highly appealing right from opening, thanks to its vibrant aromatic profile. It gains in harmony after a few years in the cellar and will be ideal to drink until around 2024.

A structured, elegant Marsannay from Méo-Camuzet

The estate

Located in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Méo-Camuzet officially took this name upon its creation in 1981, inheriting a historic family legacy. Now run by Jean-Nicolas Méo, the estate spans 18.1 hectares of vines. To diversify its offering in the face of scarce land, a négociant arm was founded in 2004 under the Méo-Camuzet Frère et Sœurs name. The estate is renowned worldwide for its pursuit of balance and finesse, producing wines that deeply respect the identity of each terroir.

The vineyard

The grapes for this Marsannay come from vines averaging around twenty years of age. The plots are located mainly in the lieu-dit La Varangée, in the commune of Couchey, where the berries reach optimal ripeness without precocity. A complementary portion comes from the Climat Les Récilles, at the centre of the appellation, contributing fruit that is often riper. Nicknamed the "Golden Gate of the Côte de Nuits", this terroir enjoys varied exposures and diverse soils dating back to the Jurassic period, blending marl, limestone and scree.

Winemaking and ageing

The production of the Marsannay Village Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs 2019 is based on gentle extraction, facilitated by the natural acidity of the berries. The grapes, harvested by hand, undergo very little manipulation, with limited use of sulphur and punching down reserved for the end of fermentation. Ageing takes place in barrels with a small proportion of new oak in order to preserve all the aromatic freshness. Finally, bottling takes place without fining or filtration after around seventeen months.
