Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Pouilly-Fumé "La Moynerie" 2023 from Michel Redde & Fils

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a pale gold hue, illuminated by delicate green highlights, a testament to its beautiful purity.

Nose
The bouquet reveals itself as complex, blending aromas of white and exotic fruits (white peach, pear, green apple) with a touch of gooseberry. A very present mineral thread, evoking gunflint and wet flint, is accompanied by nuances of citrus, mint and fennel.

Palate
The attack offers a vibrant acidity balanced by a silky, full-bodied texture. The palate is marked by a typical mineral salinity, complemented by flavours of lemon zest, quince and pear. The finish stands out for its precision, freshness and lovely persistence.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs perfectly with a seafood platter (oysters, lobster, prawns) or white-fleshed fish, whether grilled, smoked or prepared with a creamy beurre blanc sauce.

Service and storage

The Pouilly-Fumé "La Moynerie" 2023 shows fine potential for further development and can be enjoyed until around 2032.

The pure, mineral expression of a Pouilly-Fumé terroir

The estate

Although the family's winemaking roots date back to 1630, the modern estate Michel Redde & Fils was founded in 1950 under the impetus of Michel Redde. Located in Saint-Andelain, in the heart of the Loire Valley, this independent family estate spans 40 hectares. Today, the third generation runs the estate: Sébastien and Romain Redde serve as managing directors, while their father Thierry holds the position of chairman. Certified organic, the estate stands out for its rigorous plot-by-plot approach and its commitment to preserving the authentic expression of its terroirs.

The vineyard

The vines, with an average age of thirty years, thrive on a complex geological mosaic within the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. The plot dedicated to this cuvée rests on a combination of Barrois limestone, Kimmeridgian marl and flint. The estate favours controlled yields and environmentally friendly practices, incorporating biodynamic principles to promote biodiversity and the natural balance of the soils.

The vintage

The year 2023 was marked by early phenology and moderate climatic conditions, promoting optimal berry ripening while preserving lovely natural freshness.

Winemaking and aging

The harvest is carried out by hand in small crates to protect the berries. In the winery, designed to operate by gravity, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, using exclusively indigenous yeasts and without the addition of enzymes. The Pouilly-Fumé "La Moynerie" 2023 is then aged on fine lees for 10 to 12 months, distributed between stainless steel tanks, foudres and demi-muids.
