The estate
The Domaine Patrick Javillier dates back to 1945, when Raymond Javillier acquired the first plots in Meursault upon returning from World War II. In 1974, Patrick Javillier took over the family estate and began vinifying his own cuvées. Since 2008, he has worked in collaboration with his daughter Marion, who now runs the estate alongside Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy. Established in the heart of Meursault in Burgundy, this eleven-hectare estate spread across five villages in the Côte de Beaune has built a strong reputation for its elegant, complex Chardonnay white wines, while also producing a few remarkable Pinot Noir cuvées.
The vineyard
The "Les Serpentières" climat is located at the entrance to the village of Savigny-les-Beaune when coming from Beaune, on the right-hand slopes. This Premier Cru appellation benefits from a clay-limestone terroir with a south/south-east exposure that is particularly favorable for the optimal ripening of Pinot Noir.
The vintage
The 2020 vintage in Burgundy is characterized by its sunny, generous profile. The climatic conditions made it possible to achieve a remarkable balance between richness and freshness in the harvested grapes.
Winemaking and aging
The Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er cru "Les Serpentières" 2020 grapes are harvested by hand. Depending on the vintage, the grapes are fully or partially destemmed. The wine then undergoes aging in oak barrels, including a portion of new barrels, for a period of between 16 and 18 months.
