An elegant, beautifully balanced wine from the Languedoc
The estate
Founded in 1999 by Rémy Pédréno, the Domaine Roc d'Anglade extends over around 10 hectares in the Languedoc, near Nîmes. A former IT engineer who retrained as a winegrower after studying with René Rostaing in Côte-Rôtie, Rémy Pédréno now runs the estate alongside his wife Martine and Jeremy Stevenson. The estate, certified organic since 2011, is part of the winegrowing revival of the historic village of Langlade and produces wines renowned for their freshness, elegance, and drinkability.
The vineyard
The vines from which Anglada 2018 is made are located in the garrigue landscape surrounding the village of Langlade, in IGP Pays du Gard. The terroir is characterized by clay-silica soils resting on calcareous marls. The plots benefit from a north-facing exposure, protecting the vines from excessive heat and encouraging the preservation of natural freshness. Vineyard management follows the principles of organic and biodynamic farming, with deep respect for living ecosystems.
The vintage
The 2018 vintage provided favorable climatic conditions, allowing the grapes to ripen in a balanced way. The harvest took place at a stage of ripeness that favored freshness and aromatic finesse rather than excessive concentration.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for Anglada 2018 were harvested by hand as whole bunches. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts, with very gentle extraction. Aging was carefully carried out in foudres and demi-muids, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving fruit expression and the delicacy of its structure.
