Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Lieu-dit "Biousse" 2024 Yves Cuilleron

The richness and minerality of a Saint-Péray white wine

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a bright, brilliant yellow hue.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex, exuding suave scents of white flowers such as acacia and honeysuckle. These are joined by subtle notes of candied lemon and delicately toasted dried fruit.

Palate
The attack, wonderfully fresh, gives way to a full and enveloping texture. The finish stretches out with great elegance over a mineral framework, underlined by lovely, particularly refreshing bitterness.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine from France pairs wonderfully with white meats such as veal escalope in a Normandy-style sauce or tender poultry. It also enhances fish and shellfish such as lobster or scallops, as well as a warm asparagus salad. As for cheese, it pairs ideally with a mature goat's cheese such as Rigotte de Condrieu.

Service and storage

For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve the Lieu-dit "Biousse" 2024 at a temperature of 12°C. This wine can be enjoyed young, when its fruity aromas shine, or laid down to develop notes of evolution, up until around 2034.

Other characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 14%.

The estate

Founded in 1920 by Claude Cuilleron, the family estate truly transformed under the impetus of his grandson. In 1987, Yves Cuilleron took over the reins of the property, which at the time comprised just 3.5 hectares. Today, this essential estate of the Rhône Valley spans around 65 hectares. Still led by Yves Cuilleron, now supported by his son Edgar, the estate stands out for its demanding, non-conformist philosophy. The winemaker favours a pragmatic approach to producing the finest possible grapes, elevating his cuvées among the region's most outstanding references.

The vineyard

This cuvée comes from a specific plot located south of the village of Saint-Péray. Facing south-west, the vines benefit from a unique terroir made up of red clay dating back to the Pliocene era and granite scree. This vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of certified organic farming, with no use of insecticides whatsoever, and the harvest is carried out by hand to carefully select the finest bunches.

Winemaking and aging

The winemaking of the Lieu-dit "Biousse" 2024 is carried out on a plot-by-plot basis, using traditional methods. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place exclusively with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats, with no oenological products added. The wine is then aged on the lees for 8 months, with no racking whatsoever. To preserve its balance and minerality, the wine rests half in 30-hectolitre vats and half in Burgundy barrels.
