Yves Cuilleron : Lieu-dit "La Viallière" 2021

Only 1,700 bottles were filled of the 2021 Côte-Rôtie Lieu-Dit La Viallière, a modestly concentrated red that’s juicy and inviting. Red and black cherry, menthol, subtle wood smoke and pencil shaving elements are all pushed forward. Light- to medium-bodied and polished, the 2021 should be approached within the next four years.

Sweet black raspberries, wild strawberries, spring flowers, incense, and cedary, peppery notes all define the 2021 Côte Rôtie Lieu-Dit La Viallière, a medium-bodied, supple, elegant wine from Cuilleron that has fine tannins and a great finish. Drink this complex, nuanced, lengthy Côte Rôtie over the coming decade or so.

On the nose, aromas of violet flowers, dark chocolate, and wild blackberry jam, with subtle undergrowth notes that unfold a genuine, almost minty freshness. On the palate, delicious notes of red fruits ready to burst, velvety tannins, then a long, elegant and beguiling finish.
