Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Boizel Grand Vintage 2019
Tasting
Appearance
This champagne reveals a brilliant golden hue with warm golden highlights, enlivened by a fine, steady effervescence that forms a persistent stream of bubbles.
Nose
The nose is powerful, unveiling aromas of stone fruit alongside delicate notes of white flowers, particularly acacia, as well as lightly toasted almond.
Palate
The palate displays a remarkably intense texture, carried by a fine acidity that gives it a lovely tension. Generous notes of ripe apricot and tangy rhubarb mingle with fresh almonds, while a subtle bitterness balances the vinosity of the vintage. The finish is long and precise, leaving a lasting impression of richness and precision.
Food and Wine Pairing
This champagne can be enjoyed as an aperitif as well as alongside refined dishes. It pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish tartare or grilled crustaceans, as well as with fine poultry served with a creamy mushroom sauce.
Serving and Cellaring
Grand Vintage 2019 is ideally served between 10 and 12°C, a temperature that allows its aromatic palette to be fully revealed while preserving its freshness.
Boizel Unveils a Vintage Champagne Balancing Tension and Precision
The Estate
Founded in 1834 in Épernay, in Champagne, Boizel remains a family-owned house, now led by Florent and Lionel Roques-Boizel. Part of the Lanson-BCC group since 1994, it owns 7 hectares of vineyards and upholds a tradition of precise blends and long ageing. Its Caveau du Trésor preserves the memory of its greatest vintages, reflecting a deep attachment to the history and terroirs of Champagne.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from several emblematic villages of Champagne. The Pinot Noir comes from Aÿ, Mailly and Vertus, the Chardonnay from Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Villers-Marmery, while the Meunier is harvested in Aÿ and Chigny-les-Roses. This diversity of crus, spread across the Montagne de Reims, the Côte des Blancs and the Vallée de la Marne, offers a palette of complementary terroirs.
Vinification and Ageing
Each plot is vinified separately in order to preserve the specificity of each origin before blending. The wines are vinified mainly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, complemented by time in barrels and foudres to refine their typicity. Grand Vintage 2019 is then aged for five years on its lees before receiving a dosage classified as Extra Brut.
Grape Varieties
The Grand Vintage 2019 blend combines Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
