The power and complexity of a Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru
The estate
Founded in 1720 by Edme Champy, a cooper who became a wine merchant and élevage specialist, Champy remains the oldest wine merchant house in Burgundy. Owned by the Advini group and led by Dimitri Bazas, it farms twenty-one hectares on the Côte de Beaune. The last active intramural winemaking site in Beaune, the House boasts one kilometer of 15th-century cellars listed as historic monuments. A pioneer in organic and biodynamic farming, it embodies a spirit of innovation.
The vineyard
The Les Vergelesses climat lies on the slopes of Savigny-lès-Beaune and Aloxe-Corton, in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune. Planted between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, the vineyard rests on clay-limestone soils that give the wine its distinctive structure and complexity.
Winemaking and aging
Following hand harvesting, the Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er cru "Les Vergelesses" 2012 is vinified according to traditional Burgundian methods. Aging in oak barrels allows the wine to develop its structure while preserving the expression of the terroir and the purity of the fruit.
Grape variety
This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy.
