A Volnay from the Côte de Beaune with intense aromas and a velvety texture

The estate

Founded in 1720 by Edme Champy, a cooper by trade, Champy remains the oldest wine merchant house in Burgundy. Based in Beaune, it cultivates 21 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, stretching from Volnay to Corton-Charlemagne. Owned by the AdVini group since 2016, it combines tradition with environmental commitment, with half of its vineyard certified organic and the other half certified Haute Valeur Environnementale. Its remarkable heritage includes 15th-century cellars and a headquarters listed as a Historic Monument. The House also stands out for its link with Louis Pasteur, who developed wine pasteurization there in 1863.

The vineyard

This Volnay comes from plots located in the Côte de Beaune, more specifically on the Montagne du Chaignot. Nestled between Pommard and Meursault, the vineyard enjoys an east to south-east exposure, at an altitude between 230 and 280 meters. The appellation includes 30 Premiers Crus but no Grand Cru. The vines are farmed organically to reveal the authenticity of the terroir.

Vinification and aging

The Volnay Village 2015 is crafted according to traditional Burgundian methods, with aging in oak barrels to preserve the expression of the fruit and the hallmark finesse of the appellation.

Grape variety

100% pinot noir.
