Robert Parker

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Tour de Pez felt rather ordinary on the nose, the fruit not as bright as I would have liked. The palate is medium-bodied with tough tannin, some nice red fruit either side but it pulls up a bit short on the finish. Tasted September 2017.

Decanter

Good, fresh cassis fruit that is clear and well-balanced.

Jancis Robinson

Jancis Robinson

55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. Lots of grip, with some sweetness rather than truly representative appellation character. Oak awkwardness on the finish. But it delivers some pleasure. Not fine but good enough. (JR)

The 2015 Château Tour De Pez is a fine, elegant, mineral-driven, mid-weight Saint-Estèphe that’s representative of the vintage in the northern part of the Médoc. Blueberries, blackberries, violets, and spring flowers notes all emerge from this medium-bodied, elegant, pretty 2015 that has fine tannin, a touch of lifted acidity, and an easygoing, balanced style. It should drink nicely for 7–8 years.

Dark garnet, fairly dense at the core, ruby rim. Fine, floral bouquet, currently offering little fruit. On the palate, red cherries, fairly elegant extract, balanced astringency, pleasant finish with rather little drive. I expected more.

Fresh, powerful bouquet of cherries, cassis and smoke. Balanced, dense palate with fine tannins, good aromatics, finely muscular structure, powerful aromatics, long, bitter finish. 17/20 2022 - 2036

Lovely red-fruit nose. A fruit-driven wine, supple, charming, without the usual depth. Well-structured, elegant and long.

Fruity wine with a flavorful palate, a round body, and enveloped tannins. Normal length.

Generous in its ripe Merlot, this wine is sumptuous and full bodied. Although there are plenty of tannins, they give just the right structure to this wine. From a 74-acre property that is named after the small village of Pez, the wine is rich and will age well. Drink from 2025.
