Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Meursault Village "Chevalières" 2024 by Louis Jadot
Tasting
Appearance
Clear and brilliant, this wine displays a lovely pale yellow to golden hue, with subtle green highlights in its youth.
Nose
The bouquet is complex, blending aromas of white-fleshed fruit such as apple and pear with notes of fresh citrus. Indulgent touches of butter, hazelnut, brioche and vanilla intertwine harmoniously with a mineral backbone reminiscent of chalk and flint.
Palate
The attack is fresh and lively, opening onto an ample body with a delicately creamy texture. Well-judged acidity brings a fine tension that balances the wine's richness. The remarkably long finish lingers on notes of minerality, citrus and hazelnut.
Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with fine shellfish such as pan-seared scallops or lobster with beurre blanc. It will also elevate delicate fish such as turbot, white meats in a creamy mushroom sauce, or mature cheeses such as a Comté aged 12 to 18 months.
Serving and Cellaring
With excellent ageing potential, this Meursault Village "Chevalières" 2024 can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2039.
A Great White Burgundy by Louis Jadot
The Estate
Officially founded in 1859 in Beaune by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy. The family's winegrowing roots, however, date back to the early 19th century. Owned by the American Kopf family since 1985, the house has preserved its strong regional identity. Today, under the leadership of Pierre-Henry Gagey and technical director Frédéric Barnier, this illustrious house farms an extensive vineyard spanning several hundred hectares. Renowned worldwide, it stands out for its own cooperage, its growing commitment to organic farming and its determination to let each terroir express its individuality.
The Vineyard
This Meursault comes from the lieu-dit "Les Chevalières", ideally situated mid-slope at an altitude of between 250 and 280 metres. Facing due east, the old vines, more than fifty years of age, thrive on lean limestone soils. This geological and topographical setting, combined with rigorous and environmentally respectful vineyard management, yields highly concentrated grapes that give the wines remarkable tension and minerality.
Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates to preserve the integrity of the berries. In the cellar, they are gently pressed and the juice is then settled. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, around a third of them new, crafted by the house's own cooperage. Finally, the wine undergoes meticulous ageing on fine lees for around fifteen months, giving it its ample texture and aromatic complexity.
