Wine Spectator

Bruce Sanderson

Rich, offering peach and melon flavors backed by lemony acidity. This tails off a little on the crisp finish. Drink now through 2024. 250 cases imported.

James Suckling

Aromas of white pepper, stone, chalk and some aniseed with a medium body and tight, linear focus. Taut and refined with a wonderful finish. Subtle and focused. Drink now.

Julia Harding MW

40–50% fermented in French oak barrels (aged 6 years on average). The remainder is vinified in small stainless-steel vats. Aged 13–14 months, of which 5 to 6 months on fine lees in French oak barrels for 40 to 50% of the harvest. The end of maturation occurs in small stainless-steel vats. Tank sample. Clean-cut stony citrus, with less obvious creaminess compared with the Montée de Tonnerre. Smells so pure. Likewise on the palate, direct, taut and with just a hint of creamy texture to keep the freshness in balance. (JH)

Bettane+Desseauve

A nicely saline attack on the palate, with a pure, clean mouthfeel. Not the most concentrated in the line-up of Premier Crus, but well put together and always enjoyable as it evolves in bottle.
