A Full-Bodied and Refined Red Wine from Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1956 by Charles Mortet in Gevrey-Chambertin, the Domaine Arnaud Mortet now covers sixteen hectares stretching from the Plateau de Dijon to Vougeot in Burgundy. Managed since 2006 by Arnaud Mortet, alongside his sister Clémence and their mother Laurence, it carries on three generations of winemaking know-how. The estate stands out for its balanced approach, prioritizing soil health and the authentic expression of its terroirs. Its prestigious portfolio includes outstanding Grand Crus and several Premier Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate produces wines of remarkable elegance, emphasizing finesse and precision.
The vineyard
The Charmes-Chambertin lies on the southern extension of Chambertin, immediately below Griotte-Chambertin. The terroir is characterized by limestone outcrops covered with shallow soils, enriched with numerous limestone stones and marl. This geological composition gives the wines a distinctive minerality. The estate’s old vines take root in this prized clay-limestone subsoil.
The vintage
The year 2019 in Burgundy stands out for a sunny, dry season. Favorable weather conditions made it possible to obtain grapes at optimal ripeness, giving rise to wines that are full-bodied and silky, concentrated while retaining lovely freshness and remarkable finesse.
Winemaking and aging
The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2019 grapes were hand-harvested. The wine benefited from careful aging in oak barrels. This measured approach preserves the expression of the fruit and the terroir.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
