Caillou Blanc 2024

The 2024 Caillou Blanc Talbot was matured in 30% new oak and contains more Sauvignon Blanc this year (83%) due to a new parcel. It has a fresh nose with red apple, tangerine and light chamomile scents that unfold in the glass. The palate is well balanced with an attractive, slightly waxy texture and a fine bead of acidity, with a dash of lemongrass emerging on the finish. This should constitute fine early drinking.

Notes of flowers, pomelo, vanilla, pears, and orange rind pop with ease in the perfume and on the crisp, fruity palate. I like the lift and energy here. The wine blends 83% Sauvignon Blanc and 17% Semillon, 13% ABV. Drink from 2027-2032. 92-92 pts

Score: 88–90. On the nose, you’re transported to a meadow blooming with daisies and dandelions, along with violets. Notes of pear and peach lurk just behind. On the palate, the texture is caressing, round, and generous.

Attractive, complex and perfumed on the nose, with yellow nectarines, cream, chamomile, quince and tropical undertones of jackfruit and mangoes. Bright, flavorful and nicely phenolic, with a medium to full body and refreshing acidity. Long and structured. Drink from 2026.
