Devaux : D Rosé

Red berries, cherries and orange peel on the nose with a hint of bread. Excellent balance, tension and acidity with a strong structure. Firm, vinous, slightly spicy, with toasted bread richness and grapefruit freshness.

The NV Brut Rosé D blends 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, colored pink by a 10% addition of red-vinified Pinot Noir that spent at least five years on the lees. An exquisite note of dried cranberry and rosehip shines on the nose. The palate shows freshness and brisk but fine mousse that adds life to the smooth aromatic fruit, carried by real verve—a beautifully full-fruited wine with lovely depth. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. A pale yet bright rosé color; the nose is subtly marked by red berries and spices—low in intensity but refined. The palate shows good breadth with a fairly crowd‑pleasing juice, well-managed mousse, and a return of red-fruit flavors.

There is a good age on this attractive, softly textured bottling. That contrasts with taut acidity and crisp red fruits, giving a perfumed aftertaste. Drink now.
