Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of Telmont's Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 2013
Tasting
Appearance
With its deep, intense golden hue, this cuvée beautifully captures the light.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out for its striking freshness, revealing a lovely minerality alongside delicate notes of white flowers.
Palate
The attack offers superb vivacity carried by lemon aromas. The palate then evolves towards warmer flavours of vanilla and sweet spices. The finish proves both indulgent, smooth and airy, leaving subtle woody echoes.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée will pair wonderfully with a white fish ceviche marinated in citrus, or more broadly with seafood preparations combining delicate flesh and citrus notes.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 2013, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12 °C. Endowed with a long ageing potential, it can rest in the cellar for many years.
The elegance and minerality of a Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut champagne by Telmont
The estate
Founded in 1912 by Henri Lhôpital in Damery, in the heart of Champagne, the Telmont House has cultivated excellence through the decades. Today, the estate is led by the Rémy Cointreau group, majority shareholder, with Ludovic du Plessis as its chairman, while still preserving the involvement of the founding family. This brand stands out for its pioneering and radical commitment to the environment. Indeed, the estate, which relies on a vineyard of around twenty hectares, became the first Champagne house to obtain certification in regenerative organic agriculture, placing transparency at the heart of its values.
The vineyard
The grapes that make up this cuvée come exclusively from the prestigious Côte des Blancs terroir, and more specifically from the Avize sector. This Champagne vineyard offers ideal conditions to express all the freshness and elegance sought after.
The vintage
The 2013 year was characterised by a late growing cycle. These particular weather conditions proved extremely favourable to the ripening of the white grapes, allowing the harvest of perfectly healthy berries endowed with a very fine natural acidity.
Winemaking and ageing
The crafting of the Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 2013 is the subject of meticulous attention. The musts are fermented, matured and aged in oak foudres. In order to preserve all the tension of the wine, no malolactic fermentation is carried out. After bottling in 2014, the bottles, sealed with a cork stopper, benefit from an extended cellar ageing of 11 years before being released.
Grape variety
This Extra Brut cuvée is exclusively crafted from Chardonnay.
