A distinctive Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru by Domaine Chanson
The estate
Founded in 1750 by Simon Verry in Beaune, the Chanson House stands as a historic reference in Burgundy. Owned by the Bollinger group since 1999, the estate has been led by Vincent Avenel since 2017, alongside Justine Savoye in the vineyard and Lucy Auger in the cellar. The vineyard spans 88 hectares across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Based in the 16th-century Bastion de l'Oratoire, Chanson stands out for its meticulous parcel-by-parcel vinification and its environmental commitment, with an Organic Farming certification obtained in 2024 for the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyard
The climat "Les Vergelesses" lies to the south of the Corton hill, where Domaine Chanson owns 5.4 hectares. The soils are very deep and dense, made up of clay and slightly stony at the top of the plot, while the lower part has a very clay- and silt-rich texture. This diversity of terroir gives this Pernand-Vergelesses wine its characteristic complexity and depth.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was marked by a mild spring followed by alternating warm and cool periods. A significant rainfall deficit in spring was offset by beneficial storms in late August. Harvest took place from August 30 to September 13, 2022. These conditions made it possible to obtain a generous volume and fine quality, giving rise to balanced wines with luscious fruit.
Grape variety
Pinot noir (100%).
