Description
The finesse and aromatic structure of a great red wine from Beaujolais
The estate
A true emblem of the Beaujolais vineyard, the Château du Moulin-à-Vent has been located on the prestigious eponymous appellation in the north of Beaujolais since 1732. With over three centuries of history, the estate has seen three families succeed one another who, despite their distinct paths, have all shared the same conviction: the supremacy of Moulin-à-Vent. Under the leadership of the Parinet family since 2009, the Château du Moulin-à-Vent has experienced a remarkable renaissance, driven by the boldness and innovation of Édouard Parinet and Brice Laffond. Driven by enthusiasm, curiosity and a demanding passion, they craft exceptional wines that accurately express the great terroirs of Beaujolais.
The vineyard
From the lieu-dit "Champ de Cour", this wine comes from a 3.28-hectare plot located at an altitude of 220 meters, in the heart of the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, on soils combining granite and clay. This cuvée is made from vines with an average age of approximately 35 years.
Vinification and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are gently placed in 30-liter bins and then carefully sorted on two sorting tables. After harvest, 80% of the berries are destemmed to preserve purity and freshness. Vinification is carried out without adding sulfites, with daily pump-overs and precise punch-downs. Aging takes place for 18 months, in stainless steel tanks (60%) and French oak barrels (40%).
Grape variety
The Champ de Cour 2023 from Château du Moulin-à-Vent is 100% gamay.
